The Story

Built by a coach,
for coaches.

CoachesPad started on a sideline, not in a boardroom.

My name is Coach On. I'm a dad first, and a basketball coach second — though most days those two things are hard to separate. I've been coaching youth basketball for years, and like most coaches at this level, I was making do: dry-erase boards that smear, notebook diagrams nobody can read under pressure, and the mental scramble of trying to remember your counter sets when the game is on the line.

I love technology, and I kept thinking — there has to be a better way to do this. Not just to diagram plays, but to actually use them in real game situations. That gap between the whiteboard and the court is where CoachesPad was born.

“When you can show a player exactly what you need from them — with a clear visual, right before they step on the floor — something clicks. Their confidence goes up. Execution goes up.”

The problem I was trying to solve

During a game, situations happen fast. The other team makes an adjustment, you need to call a quick timeout and run a counter. But digging through a clipboard or trying to sketch something legible on a whiteboard in 30 seconds? That's not good enough for your players, and it's not good enough for you.

I wanted to be able to pull up a counter set instantly — something my players could look at, understand in seconds, and execute with confidence. A clean visual beats a frantic whiteboard sketch every time. That's what CoachesPad is: your entire playbook, organized and ready, one tap away when the game demands it.

SLOB. BLOB. Easy buckets.

If you've coached basketball, you know how much a good out-of-bounds play can shift momentum. A clean Sideline Out of Bounds (SLOB) or Baseline Out of Bounds (BLOB) set — when your players know it cold — is essentially a free possession. I built a dedicated library for these in CoachesPad so you always have your best sets ready to go, no flipping through notebooks, no guesswork.

Coaching is better together

One of the things I love most about the coaching community is how willing coaches are to share and help each other grow. CoachesPad is built with that in mind. You can share plays directly with other coaches — whether that's a colleague on your staff or a coach across the country who's running the same system. When we share knowledge, we all get better. And ultimately, the players win.

Why I keep building

I built CoachesPad because I needed it. Every feature in this app came from a real moment on a real sideline — a timeout I wasn't prepared for, a play my players couldn't visualize, a counter set I had in my head but couldn't communicate fast enough.

If you're a dad-coach, a school coach, a travel coach — any coach who cares about being prepared and giving your players the best chance to succeed — CoachesPad is for you. I'm still coaching, still learning, and still building. Let's grow together.
